2009 Absentee Fatherhood Conference Report

We are pleased to post an excerpt from the final document of the 2009 Absentee Father Conference. Because the document is fourteen pages long there are two links one will be for the conference short version and the other will be the complete document. As this process is evolving and gaining momentum we will continue to provide you with the latest updates and program changes. There is much work ahead of us and this will not be easy, but daily more and more people are putting there shoulder to the plow and slowly we are getting the necessary steps in place to implement a full-scale assault on this epidemic in Kansas City. We look forward to meeting with you and working together with the community. ReEngage is committed to partnering with other organizations that are sincere about working to address this issue.

2009 Absentee Fathers Full Conference Report

As a result of all of the fine work done at the conference by the many participating organizations we have decided to keep the conversation and the momentum going by having regularly scheduled meetings. The meetings will be designed to continue the process of refining our goals, developing our processes, and implementing the necessary steps. As we move forward we would like to invite more voices and views to the process. If you or your organization would like to be a part of this important conversation please contact us at info@reengageinc.org and get put on the email contact list.

Fox News 4 Covers Conference

We were fortunate to have our conference covered by Monica Evans of Fox News.

The 2009 Absentee Conference was a rousing success I think for two very important reasons. The first is that it helped to raise awareness of this deeply rooted and for too long ignored problem in our community. And second it began a very necessary and vital dialog between concerned individuals and organizations. As a result of this opening dialog many organizations have pledged their support and "human capital" to developing a strategic plan to combat this epidemic in our community. In the coming days and months I look forward to working with these individuals and groups in implementing these steps on a community wide basis. I want to once again thank all of those who participated in the conference from our Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, to our presenters: Dr. Linwood Tauheed, Dr. Douglas Bowles, Dr. Peter Eaton, and of course our father Charles Harris as well as all of the organizations and individuals who recognized the devastation to our community from this epidemic.
